With the final episodes of “Heesu in Class 2” just days away, it's about time the characters started being honest and clearing up misunderstandings. Little white lies and way too many missed confessions have made it a bumpy road to love, especially for leading man Hee Su (Ahn Ji Ho). But things are looking up.
These five moments of growth and honesty from episodes 7 and 8 are a promising start to what could be a season finale with resolved feelings, long-awaited confessions, and, maybe, just maybe, a happy ending for lovesick Hee Su.
Warning: spoilers up to episode 8 ahead!
1. Hee Su accepts his feelings
After spending so much time with Seung Won (Lee Sang Jun) while trying to play matchmaker, Hee Su's heart has changed! It's been a long time coming, but he has finally realized his growing feelings for Seung Won. And thank goodness for that.
Viewers have been teased and pulled back and forth about Hee Su and Seung Won getting together since the very beginning. But every time they've taken a step forward, something gets in the way. Plus, it hasn't helped that their whole relationship is mixed up with miscommunication and a lie.
Be that as it may, it really seemed like Hee Su would never be able to take his eyes off his long-time crush and best friend, Chan Young (Cho Jun Young). In fact, his nickname is “Chan Young's shadow,” given how much he follows Chan Young around without question. But Hee Su's changed as has his heart.
2. Seung Won clears up the misunderstanding
Well, partly.
When Seung Won and Hee Su team up for volunteer work over the weekend, they share a moment outside a quiet convenience store. While they're resting, their hands accidentally touch (aw!), and maybe that's what gives Seung Won the courage to finally clear things up about Ji Yu (Kim Doyeon) with Hee Su.
You'll know from previous episodes that Hee Su has always thought Seung Won's crush is on Ji Yu, but they're just good friends. Seung Won has a thing for just one guy and that's Hee Su!
Plain and simple, Seung Won tells Hee Su he doesn't have a crush on Ji Yu, and he doesn't need Hee Su's relationship help anymore. While he doesn't confess to Hee Su, he at least clears up this quite tiresome misunderstanding. It's all about the baby steps!
Though Hee Su's reaction is a bit anticlimactic given how desperate he was to get the two together, at least the main misunderstanding is off the table. Now that Hee Su knows Seung Won doesn't like Ji Yu, it means he really has a chance now. Time will tell if he'll take it.
3. Chan Young stands up to his father
Beyond Hee Su's storyline, Chan Young has been fighting his own battles behind the scenes with his father, and this week he stood his ground.
Chan Young's passion is playing tennis, even though he isn't at the top of the leaderboard yet. But that doesn't matter. Chan Young believes in himself and his ability to grow, largely thanks to his girlfriend's encouragement and wisdom (thanks, Ji Yu!). However, his father doesn't see it the same way. He wants Chan Young to stop playing tennis because he thinks he will never be the best, and to him, that means there is no point in playing at all.
But Chan Young has persisted, practicing hard despite setbacks, and by the end of episode 8, even the coach is noticing his improvement. Whether he changes his father's viewpoint or not by the end of it all, Chan Young really does look happy to be pursuing something he loves.
4. The carrot anon reveals herself
The carrot juice anon strikes again, but this time, viewers finally got some answers.
Drum roll, please: The real carrot anon is revealed to be Cha So Hui (Yeon Shi Woo), who has appeared a couple of times earlier in the series.
After coincidentally finding out Hee Su likes carrot juice and hearing his friends say the juice was from a secret admirer, she decided to take advantage of the chance to pursue her crush on Hee Su and continued secretly bringing him juice. She's also the one who has been posting anonymously on the counseling club's forum as the carrot anon.
But after overhearing a conversation between Hee Su and Chan Young's vengeful ex-girlfriend, she finds out Hee Su's heart is with someone else. Seeing So Hui so sad over this news is actually such a heartbreaking scene.
Thankfully, she is the total opposite of Chan Young's conniving ex-girlfriend. After finding out Hee Su's feelings for Chan Young, So Hui makes the difficult decision to stop pursuing Hee Su. No backstabbing, blackmailing, or anything like that. So Hui simply stops leaving him juice and messages on the forum.
5. Seung Won admits who he likes
So far, only Ji Yu has known that Seung Won's crush is on Hee Su. But Seung Won is caught redâorangeâhanded by So Hui as he leaves a carrot juice for Hee Su. This forces him to be honest with someone else for the first time.
So Hui isn't surprised at all by this confession (after all, she likes Hee Su too), and she's even willing to help. She decides to pass the carrot anon identity on to Seung Won so he can take the chance that she couldn't and confess.
So Hui might not have gotten to confess to Hee Su, but she's definitely winning the MVP vote. Now, it's up to Seung Won whether he will take his chance too.
