China has vowed never to yield to the threats issued by President Donald Trump of the United States, US.
Trump had threatened to impose a 50 percent tariff on Chinese goods in retaliation to the 34 percent slammed on the US.
He had threatened to impose 50 percent additional tariffs on China from April 9, 2024 if Beijing fails to withdraw what he described as 34 percent increase above their already long term trading abuses by tomorrow, April 8th, 2025.
According to Trump: “Therefore, if China does not withdraw its 34% increase above their already long term trading abuses by tomorrow, April 8th, 2025, the United States will impose ADDITIONAL Tariffs on China of 50%, effective April 9th.”
Reacting, the spokesperson for China Embassy in the US, Liu Pengyu, said the US can not pressure or threaten Beijing.
Pengyu disclosed that China will protect its legitimate interests.
“We have made it clear repeatedly that pressuring or threatening China is not the right way to engage with us. China will firmly protect its legitimate rights and interests,” Pengyu said.
