A serving police officer, Michael Isuwa, has been reportedly shot dead by officers from the Department of State Security Service, DSS, in Delta State.

The incident occurred at the residence of Chief Abuah Lucky in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, on April 23.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

Makama disclosed that he was informed by intelligence sources that the incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m, when the police were called to investigate reports of a confrontation.

“The lifeless body of Isuwa, attached to 48 PMF Ahoada in Rivers State but serving at Henric Empire Garden, owned by Chief Abuah Lucky, was found in a pool of blood in front of the residence.

“The police officer had reportedly been shot by DSS personnel under unclear circumstances. The situation was quickly brought under control by local authorities.

“Seven DSS officers and two civilians have been arrested in connection with the incident. The body of the deceased has been taken to the Ibusa General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

“An investigation into the matter is ongoing,” Makama said.
