Abia government suspends College of Education Provost, appoints Dr Abdulkarim Jibril as acting

The Abia State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of Professor Vincent Onwe, Provost of the Abia State College of Education, Technical, Arochukwu.

The State government appointed Dr Abdulkarim Jibril, the current Deputy Provost to serve as the acting Provost.

This was contained in a government statement signed by Ikechuckwu Uwanna.

The statement said that the suspension of Professor Onwe was approved by Governor Alex Otti as part of ongoing efforts to ensure transparency, accountability, and the smooth administration of the institution.

Dr Abdulakarim Jibril is is expected to assume responsibilities immediately and oversee the day-to-day operations of the college pending further directives.

Abia State government urged all staff, students, and stakeholders of the institution to give their full cooperation and support to the acting Provost as he carries out his duties.

The statement further reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to promoting integrity and good governance in the management of its public institutions.
