A member of Abia State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Nnamdi Ibekwe has resigned from the party.
Ibekwe who represents Bende North constituency tendered his resignation through a letter he addressed to the Chairman of PDP Igbere Ward A, Eme Onyekazi.
He blamed internal crises within the PDP as his reason for quiting the PDP.
Though he did not announce the next party he is joining, there are unconfirmed speculations that he may join the Labour Party, LP.
Meanwhile, the PDP Women Leader for Bende LGA, Lilly Ujunwa Janny, a stern critic of Governor Alex Otti has paid a visit to the Governor to pledge her support and loyalty to his administration.
In a surprise turn of events, the PDP Women Leader was led to Otti by the 2023 Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, Chima Anyaso.
The resignation of Ibekwe and Ujunwa's visit to Otti are coming just a few days after the PDP held their Abia North zonal stakeholders' meeting in Abriba, Ohafia LGA where the party vowed to reclaim power in 2027.
Reacting to the PDP Women leader's visit, the Publicity Secretary of PDP in Abia, Eric Ikwuagwu said she had not tendered any resignation letter.
