Former Kano Pillars defender, Nelson Abiam has penned an emotional farewell message to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, after completing his move to Lithuanian outfit, Zalgiris Vilnius.
Abiam joined the Lithuanian side on a three-year deal on Thursday, hailing the league for shaping him as a professional.
Abiam featured in Wikki Tourists, Nasarawa United, Rangers, Doma United, Kano Pillars, and Enyimba in the NPFL.
“Yeshua is faithful!! I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, the platform that gave me my first shot at professional football and shaped me into the player I am today,” Abiam wrote on Facebook.
“From my early days at Wikki Tourists, to the valuable experiences at Nasarawa United, Enugu Rangers, Doma United, Kano Pillars, and Enyimba, each club has played a pivotal role in my development, both on and off the pitch.
“I hold a special place in my heart for Doma United, where I was privileged to make history by becoming the first defender in NPFL history to finish a season as the club’s top scorer with five goals during the 2023/2024 campaign â a feat I will cherish forever.
“The NPFL has been more than just a league to me; it has been my foundation, my teacher, and my launchpad. As I begin a new chapter with FK Žalgiris Vilnius in the Lithuanian top division, I carry with me the lessons, memories, and strength that only the NPFL could have given.”
