Acquitted businessman Mark Obisesan raises alarm over alleged victimization by EFCC, property seizure

Mark Obisesan, a businessman recently acquitted of all charges, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of victimization after the agency refused to return his seized properties despite a court ruling in his favor.

Obisesan, who was previously accused but cleared of any wrongdoing, decried the EFCC’s actions as “wickedness,”; stating that the continued withholding of his assets violates the judgment of the court. Despite multiple requests, the agency has allegedly ignored calls to release his properties, further prolonging his ordeal.

In addition to withholding his assets, Obisesan claims that the EFCC has refused to take down defamatory posts about him, including mugshots and malicious statements that continue to damage his reputation and business. As a renewable energy entrepreneur, he asserts that these posts have caused significant harm to his standing in the industry.

Frustrated by the agency’s refusal to comply with court orders, Obisesan has written to the EFCC, urging them to set the record straight and remove all misleading content. He insists that he is being targeted simply because he successfully proved his innocence in court.

This case highlights growing concerns over the EFCC’s handling of acquitted individuals, particularly its reluctance to release assets and retract damaging public statements even after legal proceedings clear them of any wrongdoing.
