Adamawa: Fufore LG chairman Shuaibu Babas passes on

Published on April 23, 2025 at 05:45 PM

The chairman of Fufore Local Government Council in Adamawa State, Shuaibu Babas, has passed away.

Babas Shuaibu, who was sworn in as chairman in July last year, died on Wednesday after a prolonged battle with an unspecified ailment.

Although little was known publicly about his illness, a close family source said “he died after a protracted illness.”

Before becoming the elected chairman of Fufore Local Council in July last year, Babas had represented the Fufore/Gurin constituency at the State House of Assembly and had previously served as the sole administrator of Malabu Development Area.

He has been buried according to Islamic rites.

Nothing has been said publicly about it yet, but the passing of Babas is likely to pave the way for the first female local government area chairman in recent times in Adamawa State.

The Fufore Vice Chairperson, Mrs Peace Samson Audu, is one of the 21 female vice chairpersons across Adamawa, following the inauguration of 21 male chairmen and 21 female vice chairpersons last year.
