The Adamawa State Government has announced the indefinite suspension of Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, the District Head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area, citing gross misconduct, corruption, and maladministration.
The suspension was conveyed through an official letter from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Department of Chieftaincy Affairs, dated April 25, 2025, and signed by Adama Felicity Mamman.
The letter cited multiple complaints against Ja’afaru, including maladministration, breach of security, illegal confiscation of farmlands, and prolonged absence from his domain, which disrupted traditional governance.
Acting under the authority of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the directive ordered Alhaji Ja’afaru to immediately hand over all government property to the district scribe pending further instructions.
Residents welcomed the decision, describing it as a victory for justice and accountability. Ibrahim Abubakar, a community member, said the suspension proved that the government is responsive to the people’s concerns.
Earlier reports had exposed the alleged misconduct of the District Head, fueling calls for government intervention.
The suspension has sparked wider discussions about the need for reforms in the appointment and supervision of traditional rulers in Adamawa State. Residents of Daware and the broader community hope this action signals a new era of transparency and fairness in traditional leadership.
