Akpabio not only corrupt, but also abuses women – Atiku alleges

Published on March 26, 2025 at 02:11 PM

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has accused the leadership of the National Assembly, under Senate President, Godswill Akpabio of corruption.

In a recent interview on ‘Untold Stories With Adesua of Arise TV, Atiku criticized the National Assembly's approval of President Bola Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

He also alleged that Akpabio is known to be an abuser of women.

Atiku claimed he got many reports against Akpabio while he was the vice president under whose government Akpabio served as a governor.

He stated, “I was not surprised because I know the leadership is corrupt, no apologies about that. They could do anything, and the Senate President is known to have that type of character even when he was a governor.”

Atiku further alleged that Akpabio engaged in misconduct beyond financial corruption, claiming, “He was not only corrupt as a governor, but he was also in the habit of abusing women.”

Regarding the state of emergency in Rivers State declared by President Tinubu on March 18, 2025, Atiku condemned the action as politically motivated and an abuse of power.

He called for the immediate reinstatement of the suspended Governor, Deputy Governor, and State Assembly members.
