Aldi to launch new Irish cream flavour inspired by iconic Cadbury chocolate bar and shoppers are losing their minds
ALDI has unveiled a new Irish cream flavour inspired by an iconic Cadbury chocolate bar – and fans can't wait to try it.
Shoppers said “that will be banging” after the discount supermarket revealed it would be releasing a chocolate honeycomb flavour alcoholic drink.
Shoppers expect the drink to taste like Cadbury's famous Crunchie bar
Many said they expected it to taste like a boozy version of Cadbury's famous Crunchie bar.
The Ballycastle chocolate honeycomb flavour will hit shelves from March 30.
Commenting on Facebook one shopper said: “I so can't wait, I'm a notorious collector of these.”
Another added: “I feel I'll really like this one – can't wait.”
A third said: “mmm, that one sounds nice.”
Another simply wrote: “Crunchie bar flavour Baileys.”
Another said: “I hope that does not disappoint.”
The 70cl limited edition bottle has been priced at £7.99.
However, it will only be available while stocks last.
The new Irish cream has an ABV of 12%. Adults are advised to drink responsibly and not regularly drink more than 14 units a week.
The drink is just the latest special edition Irish cream from Aldi and will be released just weeks after a bottle inspired by one of the nation's favourite treats – Cadbury Creme Eggs.
Limited edition Ballycastle chocolate crème was described as “a deliciously smooth, Irish Cream blend with delicate hints of chocolate and sweet vanilla”.
The discount German supermarket has become known for its special edition booze mash-ups.
At the beginning of this month these included a Guinness inspired Irish cream.
The stout flavour drink boasted a “luxuriously smooth, creamy texture with prominent malt notes balanced by the subtle sweetness of Irish cream”, the retailer teased.
And, in October 2024 it launched a limited-edition Ballycastle S'mores Country Cream.
The 70cl drink combined rich chocolate and biscuit flavours, with hints of vanilla and fluffy marshmallow.
Aldiadded: “This nostalgic tipple is guaranteed to ignite shoppers’ tastebuds – just simply enjoy neat over ice or enjoy as part of an indulgent s’mores-tail.”
The supermarket is not the only one to launch Baileys dupes.
Flying Eze's taste test expert tried them all at the end of 2024 and found one supermarket's version was remarkably similar to the original and cost £7.99 for 700ml.
Asda also sells an Extra Special blonde chocolate flavour cream liqueur for £8.16 for 70cl.
