Furious Android users are waking up LATE for work due to mysterious bug causing their alarms to not go off

Published on March 27, 2025 at 04:28 PM

ANDROID owners are being plagued by a bug that is silencing their morning alarms.

Affected users have flocked to social media in droves, complaining that they are being made late for work by the glitch.

Fortunately, the bug isn't affecting all Android devices – just Pixel 9 owners.

The weird issue is disabling alarms, forcing affected users to set up alarms on separate devices.

“I was late for work because of this. No notification or something. It's my work alarm (scheduled Monday-Friday) and is working for years until now,” one user wrote on Reddit.

“Not sure what happened and I'd like this to prevent from happening again going forward.”

Another replied, saying: “I have five alarms in the morning, and the same thing happened to me today!

“Half an hour late, and absolutely no notification about it being unable to fire.

“I hope it doesn't happen again. I'm going to stagger my alarms with more time between them and hope this doesn't happen again until I can get an actual clock.”

The issue appears to have persisted for the past few weeks.

Some users think Gemini—Google's AI assistant—is to blame, because when it's asked to turn off any timers, it also turns off all alarms on some devices.

The issue might also be tied to the Google Clock app, which has experienced similar issues in the past.

In April 2022, Pixel owners had their alarm and notification sounds changed in a software glitch.

Then in 2021, another bug in Spotify prevented Google Clock from pushing out alarms at their scheduled times.

It's not just an Android issue though.

The modern day reliance on smartphone alarms has left millions at the mercy of glitches – including iPhone owners.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If you've found yourself to be an affected user, then it's wise to double-check your scheduled alarms to make sure they haven't been switched off.

And even if you haven't experienced the bug yet – you still might.

So it's advised you use a third-party clock app or a physical clock while Google figures out what's going on.
