The John Mulaney and Anna Marie Tendler divorce/rehab saga just keeps getting sadder. Quick recap: Last Monday John and Anna Marie announced they were getting divorced. Anna made it clear that the split was John's decision and she was “heartbroken”. That night John began his five-day stand-up residency in NYC, which was mainly about relapsing on coke and booze and going to rehab in December. Then it came out he was dating the Rita Ora of TV and film, Olivia Munn. Apparently, they met at church in LA (?!?).
Now reports are coming out that Anna Marie also went to rehab late last year around the same time as John. Sources say it was for emotional issues, and that she was suffering because of his… wait for it… alleged infidelity. NO, JOHN! NO!
Gossip columnist AJ Benza first revealed that Anna Marie went to rehab on his podcast “Fame, Ain't It A Bitch.” She allegedly went into therapy at Silver Hill Hospital in Connecticut, just after John checked into rehab in late December. Page Six's source says:
“Anna Marie was in rehab at Silver Hill for [emotional]... and eating disorders.”;
Even though AJ claimed Anna Marie talked openly about her husband's issues while at the facility, the source says that isn't true:
“She didn’t talk at all about that, we were all on our own journey of recovery. But it is clear she suffered during their marriage.”;
Other sources say Anna Marie had been struggling because of gossip that John was a cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater. There have been unconfirmed rumors swirling online that suggest John was going to strip clubs and giving his number to the dancers. There's also a Reddit post from a user named meetmeforkisses. This person claims John approached her in 2019:
“He was definitely drinking and definitely never mentioned a wife. Did not hesitate to give me his number to meet outside of the club. He was always respectful to me so I could never call him a predator or anything, but I felt so awful when I found out he was married.”;
Sources say Anna Marie is doing better after rehab and is focusing on her art. Neither she nor John commented on the recent rehab or cheating allegations.
Here I was thinking that John was one of the last remaining good boys, and now we're talking about him being a prolific cheater? Sigh. It's a good thing that John is going to “church” with Olivia Munn because he needs Jesus!
