began fronting the programme in 2021 but eventually quit after just a year in the role.

In a new interview, 80-year-old Anne has admitted she did have to tel Rachel to “shut up” on-set during filming.

The star revealed as she attempted to interview the day's contestants, forcing her to intervene.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Anne revealed: “Rachel was a bit talkative when I was interviewing the contestants but once we shut her up it was fine.”

She further admitted that she was left riled up the wrong way by Rachel and fellow co-star Susie Dent's alleged lateness and noisiness whilst on-set.

Anne insisted on having the pair's microphones switched off during filming.

However, she did clarify that Channel 4 were lucky to have the two stars and insisted their differences were not a “rift”.

Anne said: “They're both brilliant at what they do. I mean they really, really are. Channel 4 are incredibly lucky to have them. And there isn't a rift.

“It was me wanting everyone to be quiet in the studio.

“I like everyone turning up on time and quiet, quiet, quiet. So we did have to iron that out. But that's it.”

Rachel and Susie have stayed quiet on Anne's comments but maths genius Rachel did previously describe Anne as someone who “might make you cry”.

She also described her as “not the cuddliest” when asked her thoughts on Anne following her show departure.

Anne admitted in the interview that she quit the job amid a pay row and not wanting to be on Channel 4's payroll.

Despite admitting she was offered a pay rise to stay, Anne walked away from the role and was replaced by .

Elsewhere in her new interview, Anne sparked a new TV war with whom she suggested was unworthy of her primetime television slots, including her BBC reality show as well as her NTA-winning .

Anne said to The Telegraph: “I'm disappointed that by 9 O'Clock, someone called Stacy [sic] is usually telling me how to tidy my wardrobe.

“I don't want to watch some semi famous person take me round the Scottish isles, there is a lot of TV that is c**p.”
