APC youths tackle Senator Ali Ndume over comments on Tinubu’s appointments, budget

The APC Youth Network Worldwide has taken a swipe at Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, over his recent criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing his remarks as “reckless, misleading, and unbecoming of a ranking lawmaker.”

In a statement released on Thursday following a strategic meeting in Abuja, the APC youth group condemned Ndume’s claims that the Tinubu administration was mismanaging borrowed funds and violating constitutional provisions on federal character in federal appointments.

Coordinator of the group, Abubakar Gidado, said the senator’s statements were not only factually inaccurate but appeared to be a deliberate effort to undermine public confidence in the APC-led government.

“We find Senator Ndume’s comments unfortunate and disgraceful, especially coming from someone who has benefited immensely from the same APC government,”; Gidado said.

“His remarks do not reflect the reality of the budgeting framework and reforms introduced by this administration.”;

Gidado claimed that Tinubu’s budgeting process was one of the most transparent and reform-driven budgets in recent Nigerian history, citing measures aimed at reducing waste, prioritizing capital projects, and cutting down on recurrent expenditure.

“This administration has shown a deep commitment to fiscal prudence — something Ndume conveniently ignores in his emotional outbursts,”; he added.

On the issue of federal character, the group defended the president’s appointments, insisting that they reflect national inclusion and regional balance.

“The president has appointed Nigerians from all regions into key positions across ministries, agencies, and parastatals if Senator Ndume is still stuck in the past, he should bring himself up to speed with recent developments.”;

The statement further accused Senator Ndume of seeking media relevance through controversy, urging him to focus on his core responsibilities as a lawmaker.

“We will not allow political actors to distort the hard work and vision of this administration just to satisfy personal egos or secure media headlines,”; the group said.

“The youth wing of our party and millions of Nigerians at home and abroad continue to trust in the capacity of this government to deliver on its promises,”; he said.
