ARSENAL are in talks to seal a January transfer for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk with the Ukrainian keen on a switch, a report says.

Mikel Arteta‘s men are currently sat top of the Premier League and five points clear of reigning champions Manchester City.

Mudryk has taken the Champions League by storm

And so the Kroenke family are prepared to back sporting director Edu and boss Arteta in January.

Shakhtar winger Mudryk has been consistently linked with a move to the Emirates.

The 21-year-old has impressed this season scoring three times in the Champions League.

And according to The Athletic, Arsenal are among the clubs in touch with both Shakhtar and Mudryk’s representatives over a January move.

The red side of North London is also believed to be the player’s preferred destination.

However, the price tag could prove to be the sticking point.

Shakhtar have publicly demanded £86million for their star and they say he is on the same level as Jack Grealish, who joined Man City at the start of last season for £100m.

The Ukrainian club’s director of football, Darijo Srna, said: “Who wants to sign Mudryk has to pay big amount of money — otherwise our president will not sell him.

“Jack Grealish was sold for more than 100m and Mudryk’s level is not lower.”;

The Athletic do go on to state that a compromise at a lower fee could be made.

Brentford had a deal worth £21.5m in place last summer.
