Saka, 20, tried his best to continue playing after a tangle with Renan Lodi but eventually succumbed to the injury.

The severity of his injury is currently unknown, but Three Lions fans and manager Gareth Southgate will no doubt be praying it’s not serious.

England and Arsenal fans quickly expressed their fears on social media.

One tweeted: “Praying that’s not serious for Saka.

“Our season, and England’s World Cup hopes, depend heavily on his fitness.

Another said: “We need Saka for the World Cup!”;

One chimed in: “Hope Saka’s injury isn’t that serious. World Cup is by the corner!”;

Another remarked: “Too many England players getting injured 3 weeks before the World Cup. Saka the latest.”;

Saka begrudgingly came off the pitch after providing a lovely assist for Gabriel Martinelli.

The speedster played a beautiful one-two with the Brazilian in the fifth minute to break the deadlock.

England will kick off their World Cup campaign three weeks on Monday.

Southgate’s troops will face Iran in their Group B opener before clashes with the USA and Wales.
