ASTON VILLA's fairytale Champions League run is over – but they went out in valiant style.

Unai Emery's men had faint hopes of reaching the semi-finals of Europe's elite club competitions ahead of the start of the second leg, which they went into 3-1 down on aggregate.

Goals from PSG full-backs Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes before the half-hour mark seemingly dashed the Villans' hopes of reaching the semis.

Youri Tielemans, however, kept fans' hopes alive when he reduced the arrears in the 34th minute.

And two goals in two minutes from John McGinn and Ezri Konzsa put the Premier League side within a goal of levelling the tie.

Konsa should've levelled the tie with a free ahead in the 70th minute after Marco Asensio forced a good save from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

But the England international missed a free header, much to the dejection of Villa boss Unai Emery.
