Atiku calls for justice over alleged killing of 16 hunters in Edo

Published on March 28, 2025 at 06:10 PM

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the reported killing of some hunters in Edo State, calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Atiku extended his condolences to the victims' families and emphasized the need for justice.

He condemned the act of jungle justice, stressing that the protection of innocent lives must remain a priority.

“This unfortunate incident demands a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation to uncover and ensure that those responsible are brought to book,”; he stated.

Atiku urged authorities to act swiftly and decisively to prevent a recurrence of such extrajudicial killings.

He further noted that justice must not only be served but must also be seen to be done to restore public confidence in Nigeria’s security institutions.

His remarks come as Northerners are outraged by gruesome footages of killings of 16 hunters heading to Kano to celebrate Eid.
