Bandits operating in the north eastern part of the country have reportedly imposed a N60 million levy on twelve communities in Zamfara State.

This was made known in a post on X by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist in northwest Nigeria.

Bakatsine listed the Zamfara communities to include: Koloma, Dan Hayin Zargado, Zargado, Dan Godabe, Sabuwar Tunga, Makini, Bubaka, Yelwa, Bahwada, Koda, Manya & Kabusu.

He wrote that the affected communities were alleged to be aiding military raids.

According to him, residents fear attacks if they do not pay the levy as imposed by the bandits.
