I always spray 60p fridge staple on my patio to banish moss for good – it’s chemical free & makes your plants thrive

IF YOUR patio is looking a little worse for wear after cold winter months, don't worry.
You don't have to fork out a fortune to get rid of all that moss and dirt because a simple fridge staple will do the trick.
Moss can takeover your patio during the cold winter monthsA cheap trick is perfect for getting rid of the moss and discouraging it from coming
According to Chris Bonnett, the founder of GardeningExpress.co.uk, a big glug of cola will do the trick when it comes to ridding your patio of moss.
He explained: “You don’t need to reach for chemical removals to tackle moss, as certain household items work just as well.
“Opting for a chemical-free approach not only benefits your plants and soil, but it’s also less harmful to local wildlife.”
So, why does cola work so well?
It's all down to the phosphoric acid in the fizzy drink, which helps in breaking down the moss cells and stops it from returning.
The cost-effective method is really simple to use as well, all you need is some cola and a spray bottle.
Just pour the cola into the bottle and spritz it over the moss and let it sit for an hour or so before wiping it all away and rinsing with your garden hose.
And if you don't already have some cola hiding in your fridge, you can buy some for this trick without breaking the bank; one can from Aldi works out at just 60p when you buy a case of 24 for £14.49.
The best part of this hack is you'll have plenty of left over cans of the beverage to enjoy once your patio is clear too.
However, it should be noted this hack shouldn't be used on concrete surfaces, since they're sensitive to acid.
Trying out Lidl's new weeding tools
According to the pro, the chemical-free route is a great choice for many reasons.
He explained: “While moss growing on trees in your garden can be a charming sight, if you notice moss spreading on hard surfaces in your garden then it’s time to take action to prevent safety hazards.”
Gardening fans might be surprised to learn they can also use Coca-Cola as a great alternative to weed killers too.
But Chris warned that it should be used in moderation.
When it comes to cola, you can use the fizzy drink to kill weeds but also it can be used on compost.
You just have to add it to your compost pile; the sugar in it is a great natural boost.
But bear in mind that using cola in the garden can also attract bugs, which might not be ideal if you're planning on sitting outside immediately after using it.
