He then confirmed the cast, saying how the iconic band “redefined the culture and stayed with you for a lifetime”.

Sam then branded the Liverpudlian band as “the most significant band of all time”.

He added: “I had been trying to do a film for years, but I finally gave up”, noting how the story he wanted to tell “was too big for one film”.

Fans were divided over the casting announcement after it was officially unveiled, with many even quick to ask if it was an April Fools Day joke.

“So they just want to use some hot boys instead of actors that look similar,” said one person on X.

A second asked: “Giving unknown actors a chance wasn’t an option?”

“None of this is believable and i hate it we need young nobodies who actually look the part,” penned a third.

“Giving unknown actors a chance has truly become a lost art,” said a fourth.

A fifth then said: “I’m crying they look nothing like the beatles.”

“The constant rotation of the same actors in hollywood is sooooo exhausting,” added a sixth.
