Benue: Court sacks Ohimini, Apa LG chairmen

Published on April 14, 2025 at 06:03 PM

The Local Government Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has nullified the elections of two more council chairmen in Benue State.

In its latest ruling delivered on Monday, the tribunal sacked Adam Hon Adole O.J Gabriel, chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area and Adams Ochega Ogwola, chairman of Apa Local Government Area.

The tribunal’s decision followed petitions filed by aggrieved candidates from the opposition camp, largely backed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume’s political bloc.

The petitioners had challenged the credibility of the council elections held earlier in the year, alleging widespread irregularities and non-compliance with electoral guidelines.
