A LOT of planning goes into a wedding, but a decision made by one bride has left a bad taste in some people's mouths.
She took to Facebook to show off her DIY project for the big day, and it's safe to say not everyone was impressed.
She added some text onto a full-length mirror to signpost her big day and as a fun picture opportunity for guests.
But it's what the text said that raised a few eyebrows.
In cursive white text, she added: “Welcome to Katie's wedding with special guest appearance from Tom.”
Katie originally shared the snap of the mirror to ask for help decorating it further, but it backfired when the picture was shared to a Facebook group dedicated to shaming weddings.
Despite the fun tongue and cheek nature of the DIY project, not everyone was convinced it was a good idea.
“Your future husband isn't an accessory,” one person slammed in the comment section of the post.
And others agreed the mirror was in bad taste, as another said: “It’s just like that awful cake topper of the bride dragging the groom by the scruff of his neck. Yuck.
“Even if it’s an inside joke because the groom has given the bride free rein, it still isn’t funny because it’s so overdone.”
Meanwhile, others simply slammed the mirror as “cringe,” but others had stronger feelings about it.
“This trend makes me cringe. It makes it seem like your husband is an accessory instead of, y'know, a partner,” someone said.
“This sh*t screaming I’m here for ME not us this isn’t your special day alone. You are not in any manner more important than your HUSBAND OH MY GOSH,” another commented.
And one man even said he would cancel the entire thing if he were the groom.
“I would cancel the wedding if I was on the other end of this. So disrespectful,” he said.
Others saw the funny side of the whole thing though, as one said: “Is it tacky? Sure. But you have to admit it is also kind of funny.”
But the mirror isn't the only thing that left wedding guests scratching their heads recently.
One bride-to-be caused a stir when she revealed her wedding will be child-free, even if it means close family can't attend.
Taking to TikTok, the bride, who goes by @knkenny, shared a video that quickly went viral.
In the clip, she explained that some of her family told her they wouldn't be able to make it to the wedding because they couldn't get someone to watch their kids.
But the bride mused that they only mentioned it because they thought she'd tell them to ignore the rule and bring the kids – but they were wrong.
She said: “Family can't come to your wedding as they have no childcare, thinking we will invite kids, it's still a childfree wedding.”
She then captioned the video: “Ain't changing nothing on our wedding day to please anyone except myself and my husband.”
But after sharing her experience, people couldn't decide if she did the right thing or not.
One person commented on the video: “If you're mad about a child free wedding, your kids are probably the reason people have them.”
And a second said: “I don't understand why people even want their kids there. Most weddings include alcohol and drunk people, this isn't very child friendly.”
“If someone wants a child free wedding that's totally their choice, but then they can't get mad when I don't come,” a third chimed in.
