Blocking Natasha’s Sallah fest misplaced priority- Ex AA Guber Candidate

Published on April 02, 2025 at 02:41 PM

The Candidate of Action Alliance in the 2023 off cycle Governorship election in Kogi State, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh has taken a swipe at the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo led administration for allegedly blocking embattled Lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan from celebrating Sallah with her people.

Braimoh, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, expressed strong disapproval of the Kogi State government's heavy-handed tactics to prevent Senator Natasha Akpoti from entering the state to celebrate Sallah with her constituents.

He emphasized that if even a fraction of the resources wasted on this misguided effort had been redirected to address the urgent security issues in Bunu, located in the Kabba-Bunu local government area, the situation there could have seen significant improvement.

According to him “The level of insecurity in Bunu land in the Kabba-Bunu local government area has reached alarming height, comparable to the northeast, forcing our people to flee their homes in search of safety.

“The rampant killings and kidnappings for ransom have become a daily occurrence. Sadly, the state government seems more focused on stopping an elected Senator from connecting with her constituents than on tackling the ongoing violence that our people in Bunu face every day.”

Continuing Braimoh said, “The resources the state government has deployed into blocking a single day event organized by the Senator are staggering; this includes everything from publications and press releases to road blockades, collaboration with law enforcement, and even curfews in certain local government areas.

” Unfortunately, all these taxpayer-funded efforts have gone to waste, as the event went ahead and was a success. If even half of this energy had been directed towards Bunu land, we could have made real progress in eradicating insecurity.”

“The actions taken by the Kogi State government are truly disgraceful, dishonorable, and a complete waste. It's baffling to see why this is happening, and it really deserves to be condemned from all sides. This situation clearly shows a serious misalignment of priorities.

“The people of Bunu need far more attention from the government than the pointless political squabbles that have once again made Kogi look unserious on the global stage”

“That's why I've been a strong advocate for federal government support. It's become painfully clear that the state government isn't ready to step up. Bunu has been left in the lurch by those who should be using taxpayer money to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.

” Instead, they seem more focused on unproductive political games, completely overlooking the community that truly needs government assistance. What a misplaced priority”.
