Wiltshire Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the A303 near Amesbury yesterday afternoon, in which a young child suffered life-threatening injuries.

“A grey Skoda Karoq has joined the A303 eastbound at the Amesbury Road junction and has collided with a white Peugeot 208 travelling in the same direction.

“This has caused the Peugeot to spin onto the westbound carriageway through the gap in the barriers for the Allington track, colliding head on with a silver Volvo V70 travelling in the opposite direction.

“The driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her 20s, suffered injuries which are serious but not thought to be life-threatening.

“A passenger in the Peugeot, a one-year-old boy, suffered life-threatening injuries.
