The social season is upon us, Bridgerton fans, but sadly that does not mean the second season is debuting. Many people might still not be over the season 1 finale, and it looks like we should be holding onto it for some time to come. Netflix’s June 2021 new releases list has been revealed, and Bridgeton season 2 is notably absent.
Of course, this should come as no real surprise to fans of the sexy Netflix Original, as filming has only just begun on the second installment. We have been getting bits and pieces of updates for season 2, however, with the most upsetting being that Regé-Jean Page will not be part of the cast. And though we weren’t expecting the second outing to come out this June, it still stings a bit to be reminded that we won’t be getting new episodes anytime soon. (Yes, I’m impatient.)
Other Bridgerton season 2 news includes the cast announcements of Sex Education‘s Simone Ashley, along with actors Shelly Conn and Calam Lynch. As the second installment will cover the next book in the Julia Quinn series, we’re expecting a handful of newcomers to be added.
Bridgerton season 2 release date
So we know definitively that Bridgeton season 2 won’t be released on Netflix in June 2021. When will it, then? While fans have been hoping perhaps we’d get the second installment in time for the winter holidays this year just as the first season debuted, it doesn’t look like that will be the case. In fact, we’re under the impression that season 2 won’t come out this year at all.
As we previously reported, a Q1 2021 shareholder letter from Netflix revealed a list of new releases coming to the platform this year, which included You season 3, Sex Education season 3, The Witcher season 2, and others. Unfortunately, Bridgerton season 2 was not on the list.
Of course, Netflix could surprise us depending on how long filming takes and release season 2 sometime this year, but it doesn’t seem likely. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with any release date news or speculation we find.

The good news, however, is that Bridgerton won’t be ending anytime soon. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been announced, along with a spinoff series! While the wait for season 2 might be frustrating, at least we’ll be getting more content from our favorite high society members for years to come.
