Brit MMA star Dominique Wooding signs for PFL and vows to ‘run through the division’ on way to winning $1m season

DOMINIQUE WOODING has signed for the Professional Fighters League – leaving his eyes on the $1million prize.

The British bantamweight has penned a deal with the American promotion, set to debut next year.

Wooding, 26, said: “I’m extremely excited to sign with the most exciting MMA promotion in the PFL.

“I finally have the opportunity to compete with the very best athletes in Europe and the world and become a champion in a major global league.

“The PFL’s unique season format is the future of the sport – I cannot wait to introduce myself and run through the bantamweight division.”;

The PFL is MMA’s only league format, consisting of qualifying and knockout stages.

Stars in each weight have two regular season bouts, with points are earned per method of victory.

The top four in each weight then progress to the knockout stages where a winner-take-all $1m prize and title belt await.

Wooding, 9-5, is the former Cage Warriors champion, who most recently fought in October losing to Michele Martignoni, 26.

But now he is braced to become the PFL’s latest marquee signing from the UK.

Manchester’s Brendan Loughnane, 32, is in his third year with the organisation and into this season’s featherweight final.

He faces American Bubba Jenkins, 34, on November 25 in New York.

The same night, Scotland’s Stevie Ray, 32, takes on Canadian Olivier Aubin-Mercier, 33, in the lightweight showpiece.
