He also left Amanda Holden stunned as he swiped her Golden Buzzer for a moving band performance.

BGT's head honcho was clearly emotional when inclusive charity band Electric Umbrella swarmed the stage and sang an original song.

The Watford-based group made up of school children and adults with special needs sang their song Acceptance together while playing instruments.

A tearful Bruno was full of praise for the heartwarming gig, saying: “Oh my god, so heartwarming, so inspiring. You have my love and respect.”;

Alesha Dixon added: “So many amazing people on this stage.

“Everyone can relate – that’s why we’re so proud of our show. We celebrate people from all walks of life. You did an incredible job today.”;

Amanda was equally touched, telling the band: “What pours out of you is friendship and joy. Everything you stand for is brilliant. What an amazing day that you came here.”;

But it was Simon who delivered the biggest shock of the night.

Overcome with emotion, he told them: “I feel a wave of goodness here.

“Everything about this is good. What it stands for, what you did.

“For me, this is like being in a movie. It was just spectacular. The only downside is... I don’t have any Golden Buzzers left. However...”;

With that, he slammed Amanda’s Golden Buzzer, sending the band straight through to the live shows – and leaving Amanda speechless.

After the moment, Simon said: “I love that every single one of them had a part. And by the way, great people – they deserve it.”

FANS DIVIDED

Simon’s decision to bend the rules sparked backlash from viewers, with many taking to social media to complain.

One furious fan tweeted: “Simon making up the rules as he goes along. It makes a mockery of the show.”

Another said: “That must be about the 20th Golden Buzzer this series.”

And a third raged: “Golden Buzzer means fk all these days – as does this show! It’s had its day.”

It comes after Simon told the judges to break the rules last year, resulting in nine Golden Buzzer acts making it through to the final.
