Bryson DeChambeau spills beans on Rory McIlroy ‘beef’ after Masters champion ‘didn’t talk to him once’

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU has opened up on the furor that followed his interview explaining that Rory McIlroy “didn't talk to him once” during the final round of The Masters.

DeChambeau was paired with McIlroy on the final day as the Northern Irishman .

But , who had an early meltdown to slip out of contention, revealed that was so focused that he didn't even speak to him.

The LIV star said after the round that – sparking controversy online over what had happened.

However DeChambeau has now cleared things up, explaining that it is normal for players to be in the zone when so much is at stake.

Speaking toAthlon Sports, he said: “He was just being stoic the whole day; there was nothing more. I was like, he just didn't talk to me.

“It wasn't a slight; there's no beef or anything.”

DeChambau went on to explain that it was no different to how barely spoke to Tony Finau when he won his iconic comeback Masters in 2019.

He added: “It was like what Tiger did to Tony. It's the same combo, but it wasn't meant to be in a bad way, and that's how things happen.

“I wish people would not interpret things, but, you know, people will do that.”

DeChambeau denied McIlroy a second US Open victory last year when he .

But the 31-year-old wasn't too upset about the roles reversing this time round, explaining that he was just happy to be a part of history.

He said: “He deserved this one. He fought his butt off and absolutely did what he needed to do to win.

“It looks scary sometimes, but it was a rollercoaster for everybody. And, you know, we gave everybody a rollercoaster last year at the US Open.

“He did it this year at . So, it was fun to be a part of history.”
