Burnley, Leeds confirm promotion back to Premier League

Published on April 21, 2025 at 08:03 PM

Leeds United and Burnley have sealed their return to the Premier League.

This was confirmed on Easter Monday, following wins in their Championship fixtures.

At Elland Road, Daniel Farke's men raced into a five-goal lead in the first half against Stoke City.

They ended up winning the match 6–0, bringing an end to their two-year absence from England’s top flight.

Burnley defeated third-placed Sheffield United 2–1 at Turf Moor to secure an immediate return.

The result stretches the Clarets’ unbeaten run in the league to 31 games.

Leeds United have the best attack in the Championship, while Scott Parker’s Burnley boast the meanest defence.

Leeds and Burnley are currently first and second respectively on the Championship table, both on 94 points.

Both sides now face a straight shootout for the Championship title with two games remaining this season.
