Center Parcs reveals hugenew holiday resort opening in the UK

CENTER Parcs has unveiled fresh plans for the proposed layout of its new site on the Scottish Borders.

The holiday park giant announced its plans to open a huge new Center Parcs resort in the UK last year.

Center Parcs put forward the new layout at a meeting with locals in Denholm Village Hall, Scotland.

The new site will be built close to Hawick and will feature 700 accommodation lodges, it's indoor waterpark Subtropical Swimming Paradise, and a newly-created loch.

It is also slated to include an aqua sauna, a forest spa, a village centre and a wildflower meadow.

The firm will create a woodland forest by planting 1,000 trees in an area of open grassland.

Previous plans revealed that the parks lodges will be split into six designated zones.

Accommodation options will include woodland cabins and treehouses.

The designs include heritage and activity zones as well as dining areas.

Center Parcs' chief executive, Colin McKinlay, said: “Significant technical and design work is taking place behind the scenes as we work towards making our ambition of bringing Center Parcs to the Scottish Borders a reality.

“As our project team continues to develop plans and engage with the community, we are delighted to reveal the first iteration of our masterplan.

“These consultation events are essential in allowing us to gather feedback and refine our proposals.

“Our goal is to create a destination that integrates seamlessly with the natural environment while providing high-quality accommodation and leisure experiences for families.”

Additional public consultations will take place in April and May before Center Parcs submits a final planning application in the summer.

While Center Parcs has not issued a timeline for the project, previous sites have opened three years after planning permission is granted.

When it opens, it will be the seventh Center Parcs site in the UK.

Center Parcs opened its first resort in Sherwood Forest in 1987, with a second site opening in Elveden Forest in 1989.

Its Longleat site opened in 1994, with Whinfell Forest in Cumbria opening three years later.

More recently, Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire opened in 2014 followed by Longford Forest in 2019.

Center Parcs also discussed opening a site in Crawley; however, the plans were later scrapped.

Three little-known free perks at Center Parcs

Visit before check in

Families can explore the park from the morning to make the most of their stay, with six free hours before the 4pm check in.

The park website states: “On your day of arrival, you can start your adventure in the forest from 10am and have access to your accommodation at 4pm.”

Stay after check out

Check out is 10am, but guests can stay on site until midnight that day.

This gives another 14 free hours to explore the activities.

The website states: “On your final day at Center Parcs don’t rush to get back to reality, you will need to leave your accommodation by 10am, though guests are welcome to stay on village until midnight.”

Free baby swimming sessions

Baby Dolphins is a free session for kids under three before the pool opens, so parents can have a quieter session with their little ones.

A mum recently revealed how she saved more than £1,000 by going to a Center Parcs resort in Europe rather than the UK.
