World’s cheapest five star hotels revealed where rooms are as little as £22 – along with private beaches and huge pools

THE most affordable five-star hotels in the world have been revealed – and one is just £22 a night.

Which? sifted through hotels advertised as five stars on Hotels.com to find the world's most affordable luxury accommodation.

Stays at the hotel start from £22 per night

The consumer watchdog analysed any hotels that were named as five stars on Hotels.com before looking at customer ratings over 8 out of 10.

And the cheapest option was Emerald Bay Hotel & Spa in Nha Trang, Vietnam, with rooms just over £20 for the night.

Not only are there sea views from the roof terrace, but guests have access to a nearby private beach with unbeds and umbrellas.

There are even ‘skyswimming pools overlooking the ocean as well, along with a pool bar.

Families can make the most of the on-site kids' club too, with one guest even calling the hotel a “hidden gem” in Vietnam.

Angkor Miracle Resort and Spa in Cambodia took second place, with stays from just £49 per night.

Rooms are kitted out with Cambodian decor, so guests can expect dark wood floors and carved furniture.

Other hotel features include an infinity pool with loungers and green spaces.

One guest described the hotel as an “incredible resort“.

The Grand Hotel Continental Bucharest, Romaniais one of the grandest in Europe on the list, with stays coming in at £87 per night.

Centrally-located, the hotel has a hot tub, sauna and a fine-dining restaurant.

One guest said the hotel offered a “grand experience at an affordable price”;.

But if you want to fine the cheapest in Spain, head to AC Hotel Palacio where rooms start from £78.

Of course, there is no standard definition of what makes a five-star hotel, so guests should be aware that it varies from country to country.

Places like Dubai have even claimed to have ‘seven star' hotels, which don't exist.

Rory Boland, Editor of Which? Travel said: “A five-star hotel may seem too expensive for the average holidaymaker, but we have found impressive levels of luxury for as little as £22 per night.

“If you can afford the flight, South East Asia has the cheapest five-star hotels, but even if you don’t want to travel so far, there are plenty of affordable options closer to home.”

If you don't want to leave the UK, you will have to splash out a bit more for a five-star hotel.

The cheapest option Which? found was The Roseate in Berkshire which had rooms for £135 a night.

This was followed by The Grand Central Hotel, Belfast (£189), The Marcliffe in Aberdeen (£205) and voco St David’s, Cardiff (£301).

TUI has revealed its top hotels in the world – and one of them has been named the best for four years.
