Chelsea U21 ace who scored twice to humiliate stars in training ‘hasn’t signed new contract over lack of playing time’

CHELSEA starlet Donnell McNeilly is yet to sign a new contract amid worries over his lack of first-team opportunities.

The talented striker, 19, has been a shining beacon of youth sides over the past several seasons.

Last term saw McNeilly score 30 goals in all competitions.

And just a week ago, the ace put seniors to the sword with two strikes in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

McNeilly’s brace helped Chelsea’s kids , leading to Maresca cancelling a day off in fury.

However, the hitman is still yet to make his senior debut for the club.

McNeilly has seen no less than eight of his U21 pals make matchday squads under Maresca this season.

And the Mail claims he is now growing frustrated by the lack of opportunities, especially considering Chelsea’s striker crisis.

Both Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu are long-term casualties, while the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer have gone off the boil.

The bad news for Chelsea is that McNeilly’s contract, which he penned in 2022, expires this summer.

A new deal is said to be on the table.

But McNeilly is yet to sign it, potentially signalling his intent to quit Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.

And unless he is given assurances of a pathway to the first team, it’s believed he could part ways with Chelsea this summer.

McNeilly isn't the only promising youngster out of contract shortly.

Goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom's deal also expires in June.

He has made multiple matchday squads as a sub but is yet to make his senior debut.

Chelsea will have a plethora of goalies next season when loanees Mike Penders, Djordje Petrovic and Kepa Arrizabalaga join Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.

And there may not be any room for Bergstrom at the club.
