It was Aubameyang’s first appearance against the Gunners since his controversial exit from the club and he never threatened to score against his old teammates.

The 33-year-old left North London for Barcelona back in January after manager Mikel Arteta had enough of his disciplinary issues.

He was often late for meetings resulting in him being dropped from squads and stripped of the captain’s armband by his strict manager.

Aubameyang had the chance at revenge but failed to take his opportunity before being replaced by Armando Broja.

The Gabonese ace managed just one shot, five attempted passes (only three of which successful) and despite his talents he did not complete a dribble or win a duel.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang’s replacement Gabriel Jesus put in another good performance since his summer switch from Manchester City.

In comparison, the Brazilian managed 63 touches and won 11 duels.

The day continued to get worse for Aubameyang as he was repeatedly booed by his old fans at Stamford Bridge and they taunted him chanting: “Mikel Arteta, he thinks that you’re sh*t.”

To top it off he was also trolled by goalscorer Gabriel Magalhaes for the comments he made pre-match.

He said: “Arsenal, nothing personal. I’m back. I’m blue. I’m ready. Let’s go.”

Gabriel reminded him of those remarks tweeting after the win that saw Arsenal remain top of the league: “NOTHING PERSONAL .. LONDON IS RED.”
