Fans spot CM Punk's bloodshot eyes after WWE legend breaks down in tears on historic show

WWE superstar CM Punk broke down in tears after returning to the UK to compete in the main event.

Punk, 46, is one of the greatest ever professional wrestlers as he has won six world titles and shared the ring with some of the biggest legends, such as John Cena, The Undertaker and Triple H.

The Best in the World made headlines back in 2014 after his acrimonious departure from WWE due to injuries and intense creative differences with the company.

After nine years in the wilderness, the ex-WWE Champion returned to the wrestling giants at Survivor Series and has since been a mainstay in the main-event scene.

The former World Heavyweight Champion has continuously discussed about all the lessons he learned while away from the promotion and repeatedly expressed his gratitude for being back despite all the bitterness that existed between both sides.

And it seems like all of those emotions took over in Nottingham on Sunday when CM Punk competed in a live non-televised show.

The Straightedge Superstar received a standing ovation from the live UK crowd as he prepared to compete in the main event alongside Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, with whom he beat World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and Solo Sikoa.

Rhodes and Punk sat on the ring apron enjoying the crowd reaction and that was when the latter started to tear up as he showed how much he is actually enjoying his second chance with the company.

WWE shared a clip of that emotional moment across social media and issued the following caption: “Sometimes you just need a moment to take it all in...”

WWE fans were so happy for CM Punk that they stormed Twitter to congratulate their favourite wrestler.
