I gave my garden a spring makeover for just £22 - using Shein & Home Bargains buys that saved me £70
GARDENING fans have revealed how coffee grounds could help your garden to bloom this spring.
Now that the weather has begun to get warmer, you may find yourself spending more time in the garden soaking up the sun.
March is a great time to tackle jobs in the garden
And if you want to ensure your flowerbeds are looking their best in time for summer, there are a number of jobs you can be getting on with this March.
And getting your garden in tip-top shape doesn't have to cost a bomb, as you can use items you likely already have in the cupboard, such as coffee grounds.
Posting in the Gardening On A Budget Facebook page, one budding gardener asked the question: “Are coffee grounds good for plants, which plant and how to use?”
The post was flooded with helpful responses from avid gardeners, keen to share their wisdom.
One person said: “I've been using coffee grinds for years and its a brilliant free feed.
“I get mine at a local cafe for free.
“I soak the grounds in a tub of water to make a concentrate, then scoop a cupful or two into a watering can and fill it upwith rain water.
“Then I water both indoor and outdoor plants.
“It's also fantastic as a lawn feed.“
A second person said: “I’ve been using coffee grounds in my garden for years.”
Gardeners are rushing to Home Bargains to snap up £X bargain that instantly turns your home into a Mediterranean paradise
A third person said: “My peace lily was looking really sorry so me and my daughter gave it some coffee water and put it outside and watched it stand back up looking healthy again!”
A fourth person added: “I’ve used them on my acid loving plants, I’ve found them beneficial.”
Coffee grounds are a good source of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus which are all essential nutrients for plant growth.
This means they make a great natural fertiliser.
