Federal Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State in the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, Imo Akpan has called for the domestication of the core mandates of the commission in the state.

Akpan, who made the call while addressing management and staff members of the commission in Uyo on Friday, highlighted the mandates to include monitoring of revenue accruals and disbursement, review of revenue allocation formulae, advising governments on fiscal efficiency.

Others include the determination of remuneration for political office holders, and discharge of other constitutional functions.

Akpa promised to ensure the state office runs in synchrony with the headquarters, emphasizing teamwork to achieve such.

While assuring the Commission's workforce in a state of adequate welfare, Akpan said communication channels would remain open as their concerns would be duly addressed.

“We want the Commission's core mandate to be vigorously pursued and domesticated in Akwa Ibom State during my tenure.

“We stand to achieve great heights if we work as a team. We must be pacesetters in the comity of RMAFC state offices,” he stated.

Speaking, Mrs Margaret Archibong, Deputy Director and State Coordinator of RMAFC commended Akpan for being realistic about addressing operational issues in Akwa Ibom and called on him to ensure the workforce benefits from every privilege given to other states.

Mr Tamana KpooBavi, Head of Operations on his part expressed hope that Akpan's presence would help address challenges and move the RMAFC Akwa Ibom State forward.
