His appearance on the reality TV show is no doubt likely to worry fans of Corrie that it could signal an exit for his character.

But Jack has been quick to clarify that if he has it his way then he won't be going anywhere, anytime soon.

Opening up to co-stars and Ben Price on their On The Sofa podcast, Jack admitted his future looked very much set in Weatherfield.

The actor admitted: “I think I'll stay [for another 25 years].

“If we are still being used, the Platt's are still being used and we are still getting good stories and I like the same people.”

Ben then asked Jack: “Do you ever think what life would be like not being in the show?”

Assertively, he replied: “No. I don't think so.

“Today is Wednesday and I don't even think about Thursday. I'm just focused on today.

“There is always the chance I might just die tomorrow.”

It seems just as well that Jack is hoping to stay around after he bagged nominations for at this year's ceremony.

He has been nominated for Best Leading Performer and Best Performance.

The ITV soap has been riding high after the devastating death of Paul Foreman last year and the huge house fire as David Platt spirals out of control.

Voting is now open for the first round of the British Soap Awards and the public have until April 25 at 5pm.

The second round of voting will happen from May 1 and May 30, where the Best Leading Performer category will be whittled down to four big names.
