I’m transforming my nasty council home one lick of paint at a time, but everyone has the same complaint about my hallway

A WOMAN has revealed how she is transforming her nasty, grimy council house with a lick of paint.

Kaysha revealed she was planning to make it look brand new with some simple DIY tasks, but not everyone was convinced.

Kaysha quickly began to transform her council home which was left grimy from the previous tenants

But people weren't convinced by the new look

Taking to social media, the mum-of-one showed the council house as she moved in and was horrified by the state of it.

She said: “The tenants before me had completely ruined it.

“Every nook and cranny of this place was nasty to say the least.

“I'm talking thick-caked-on, nicotine stained walls, and grime everywhere. There was even blood on the wall.”

The state of the house meant Kaysha had no choice but to crack on with decorating immediately.

After she and her dad had cleared the walls, she began to design her colour scheme, opting for gorgeous pastel hues across the home.

She then hurried to get her hallway done before the carpet was fitted.

Kaysha opted for duck egg blue walls with a yellow trim.

She used Lick's yellow paint for the doorframes, stair banisters and skirting boards.

She added, “Look how nice this shade of yellow is.

I've given my run down council house a mega glow up with Temu buys from just £2 - now people say my home is 'beautiful'

“The camera does not do it justice.

“Like this colour combination is so creamy and so beautiful.”

Kaysha didn't stop painting until 1am and the hallway was finally done.

The clip went viral on her TikTok account @kaysha.art with over 1 million views and 22k likes.

How to do your council house up on the cheap

  • Take inspiration from pricier shops and head to B&M, Home Bargains for interior decorations.
  • Head to YouTube for easy to follow tutorials on how to decorate rather than paying for professionals.
  • For a quick glow-up for your floors or anywhere with tiles, opt for stick-on vinyl to save on costs.
  • A lick of paint does wonders to make a room feel brand-new.
  • Switch out kitchen cupboard knobs for modern ones instead of buying brand-new cupboards

People seemed utterly divided by the paint choice, with many left aghast by Kaysha using the colour yellow to paint her woodwork.

One person wrote: “I fear you may be making it worse.”

Another commented: “Each to their own I suppose, yellow just looks like nicotined stains to me.”

“This colour combo is NOT it,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Love to see personality in a home. Much better than boring beige.”

“God forbid someone paints their house something other than grey or beige,”; claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Looveeee seeing people decorate with colour!”
