Court remands two over alleged murder

Published on March 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of two persons, Adekunle Isiaka, 55, and Clement Ilesanmi, 65, in a correctional facility over alleged murder.

The duo, whose addresses were not provided, were charged with conspiracy and murder.

The Magistrate, Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun, did not take the plea of the defendants due to lack of jurisdiction.

He directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

He then adjourned the case until May 5 for mention.

The Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 9, at about 2:00 a.m., at the Owode Academy area of Ibadan.

He said the defendants unlawfully caused the death of a 28-year-old man, Abiodun Taoreed, by beating him with a stick.

Lawal added that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
