Crash: Otti mourns dead officer as Abia govt takes over treatment of survivors

Abia State government has announced that it has taken the surviving victims of Sunday's auto crash involving joint security team, to the nearest hospital for best medical attention.

DAILY POST recalls that a patrol van carrying some members of the Abia State joint security team, Operation Crush, plunged into a ditch in a bush along Isieke, Umuahia North LGA on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of a member of the security team and injury to others.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Alex Otti sent his condolences to the leadership of the State Joint Security Command and the family of the dead officer.

Otti who described the incident as sad and unfortunate, regretted that life was lost.

“Governor Otti while condoling with the Joint Command and the family of the deceased Officer, assured that his government would ensure that the injured ones receive the best of medical attention to ensure they recuperate as quickly as possible”, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma said in a statement on Monday.

Quoting the Governor, Ekeoma noted that the joint security taskforce, Operation Crush, has been doing a wonderful job in securing the state against criminals, even as he said that necessary support would be given to the joint security team to ensure they sustained the tempo.
