CRISTIANO RONALDO failed in his attempt to reproduce Antony’s double pirouette skill before Manchester United’s 1-0 win over West Ham.
The Portuguese superstar, 37, was warming up ahead of the clash at Old Trafford when he tried to recreate his Brazilian team-mate’s trick from Thursday evening.
Antony spun 720 degrees before passing the ball out of play during the Red Devils‘ win over Sheriff in the Europa League.
According to West Ham, took inspiration from that on Sunday but lost control after just one pirouette.
And as the ball rolled away from him, the Real Madrid legend could be seen chuckling at his inability to perform the skill.
Antony, who joined United for a huge ã85.5million in the summer, has made the trick his trademark.
But it has divided opinion among those in England.
Speaking after the skill and incomplete pass, BT Sport commentator Robbie Savage said: “Heâs done that then puts the ball out of play. Itâs quite embarrassing actually.
“Doing that with nobody near him and then he puts the ball out of play.”;
And Man Utd legend Paul Scholes added: “What is he thinking? He’s not beating a man, he’s not entertaining anybody, it’s 0-0 and then he kicks the ball out.

“But that’s the way he plays, Iâve seen him do it many times for Ajax as well and thatâs just the way he is, but I think he needs that knocking out of him.”;
Antony defended his skill on social media, saying: “We are known for our art and I wonât stop doing what got me where I am!”;
The former Ajax man missed the win over West Ham due to a minor injury.
But Ronaldo started the game as Marcus Rashford’s goal handed Erik ten Hag’s men victory.
They now sit fifth in the Premier League table, one point behind fourth place Newcastle with a game in hand.
Next up for the Red Devils is an away match against Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday, before they go to Aston Villa on Sunday.
