RIO FERDINAND believes Cristiano Ronaldo has cut ties with Gary Neville after snubbing the pundit before Manchester United’s match with West Ham.
Neville was left in an awkward position after Ronaldo greeted Louis Saha and Jamie Redknapp before ignoring his former team-mate.
The Sky Sports pundit laughed off the incident when questioned about it by colleagues Micah Richards and Roy Keane, with Neville questioning why Ronaldo cared so much about his opinion.
The snub came after Neville claimed United were a better side when Ronaldo does not play, and Ferdinand believes the Portuguese will not be in a hurry to forgive him.
Appearing on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “I don’t think Cristiano is taking that call (if Neville calls him).
“Knowing Cristiano it’s gone isn’t it. You’ve said what you said and believe what you believe.
“I think what I would have done differently if I was recreating that scenario, I would maybe have gone and shook a couple of hands and said: ‘you talk too much, cya later’ and then gone. Just a little jab in there.
“They would have (crossed paths), (Neville) would have gone to the gantry straightaway. You’re not going to go and search out someone when you’re preparing for a game.
“I see why people are saying he didn’t need to do that but from a player’s perspective, no player is happy when a pundit is criticising them.
“They were team-mates but they aren’t people that would share texts or stuff like that. And Cristiano respects Gary as well.
“He respected him as one of the senior players at the club 100 per cent. He would use that as fuel.”
Ronaldo was friendly with Neville earlier this season and greeted him alongside Roy Keane while the pair were pitchside for United’s clash against Liverpool in August.
CR7 blanked Jamie Carragher on that occasion due to the pundit’s criticism of him and it appears Neville has now joined Ronaldo’s naughty list.
