Dele Alli names his two toughest opponents

Published on April 12, 2025 at 04:13 PM

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Dele Alli has named Lionel Messi and Kevin De Bruyne as his two toughest opponents.

Alli insisted De Bruyne was also special like Messi as he could spot passes perfectly like the Argentina international.

The Englishman added that the passing made him respect the duo greatly.

“I have to say Messi. Obviously we were not directly against each other, but for me Messi was one of the toughest,” Alli told Como's official website as quoted by GOAL.

“Also, Kevin De Bruyne is one that I always put up there because we play similar positions.

“I would be behind him and see things and think: ‘Please don’t see that pass’. But he always seemed to see it and find the pass perfectly.

“For me, that was something I noticed and something I gave a lot of respect to.”

Messi currently plays for Inter Miami, while De Bruyne is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.
