MANCHESTER UNITED right-back Diogo Dalot used his first Red Devils payday to buy a new minibus for his childhood team.
The 23-year-old is seeing consistent game time at Old Trafford under new boss Erik ten Hag.
Dalot has turned out 15 times for United this season across all competitions, starting in every single appearance.
He moved to Old Trafford from Porto for £19million in 2018, despite having made just eight senior appearances for the Portuguese side.
Before joining Portoâs academy at the age of nine, he played for a club in Braga called Fintas.
Dalot holds Fintas near and dear to his heart. So much so he bought his childhood club a minibus.
Speaking to The Times, the right-back recalled his dad inviting the clubâs two presidents over to his house, where he presented them with the gift which came out of his first United paycheck.
He said: “I bought it for them when I gained my first salary from United.
“I wanted to give something back to Fintas, because legally they wouldnât receive anything for my transfer from Porto.Â
“I knew a van would help them a lot, because they have to pick up kids from the houses and sometimes the parents had to drive them.Â
âI remember my father was driving me to training every single time, sometimes picking up other kids because their parents could not â so I think the van was the right choice.â
Despite being a busy football superstar, Dalot still makes time to go and visit his former team when in Braga.
Coach Luis Travessa Martins said in 2019: “Whenever he comes to Braga, he comes to visit us, he watches the games and takes time to talk to the young players.
