Driver & passenger killed and two men left seriously injured in horror early hours crash

TWO people have died following a horror collision in Chelmsford which has also left two others seriously injured.

Police were called shortly after 3am this morning after two cars crashed and left a driver, in his 30s, and a passenger, in his 50s, dead at the scene.

The collision took place on B1007 Stock Road, by junction 16 of the A12.

Their families have been informed and are being supported by our specialist officers.

Two other men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries. They are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The road is still closed while officers carry out vital investigations.

Essex Police said: “We would ask the public to avoid the area while we continue with this work at the scene.

“As we piece together what led to this tragic incident we particularly want to hear from anyone who may have seen a blue BMW 3 series car in the early hours of 23 March.”

Inspector James Freeman added: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two people who died today. We are working hard to establish what led up to this collision and would urge anyone with information to contact us.

“If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us as soon as possible.”
