The Edo State Government has sealed Eterno Hotel, owned by the Director General of the campaign organization of Asue Ighodalo, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.

DAILY POST reports that the hotel owned by Mathew Iduoriyekemwen and located in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin City, was sealed off by the Edo State Development and Building Control Agency, ESDBCA.

Iduoriyekemwen, who disclosed this to newsmen, expressed dismay over the development.

“I don’t know why a state would want to destroy an indigene’s investment. I don’t know whether it is politics they are playing.

“Last time they revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the land. I saw it in the papers. This one they are doing now, I don’t know,”; he said.

He said the reason for the sealing of the hotel was not formally disclosed to him by officials of the agency.

DAILY POST gathered that following the sealing of the multi-million hotel, lodgers were seen evacuating the facility.

The official inscription bearing the code 29.425 ESDBCA was placed at the hotel premises.

The agency is charged with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with state regulations on planning, development and building control.
