EFCC re-arraigns ex-NSA Dasuki, former NNPC director over alleged N33.2bn arms fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to re-arraign former National Security Adviser (NSA) Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd) and former Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) General Manager Aminu Baba-Kusa, along with two firms, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) today.

The case, originally handled by Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf before he became the FCT Chief Judge, has been reassigned to Justice Charles Agbaza.

The defendants were first arraigned in 2015 on charges of money laundering and breach of trust involving N13.5 billion.

The prosecution later expanded the charges to a 32-count indictment covering misappropriation of N33.2 billion meant for arms procurement to fight Boko Haram.

A separate case involving Dasuki, former Minister of State for Finance Bashir Yuguda, ex-Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, and their company, Dalhatu Investment Limited, is ongoing before Justice Yusuf Halilu.

That case involves allegations of misappropriating N19.4 billion in public funds.

The fresh arraignment follows delays due to the Department of State Services (DSS) refusing to release Dasuki on bail, despite multiple court orders.

The case is restarting due to administrative changes and judicial workload concerns.
