ENGLAND fans were left in hysterics after spotting “Steve McClaren”; holding a World Cup trophy in the stands against Senegal.

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions saw qualified into the quarter-finals thanks to goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.

Now they await current holder France, who beat Poland, in the weekend’s crunch clash.

England fans were given something to shout about after completely outclassing Senegal.

And no one appeared to enjoy it more than one fan in the crowd it Qatar, who struck an uncanny resemblance to McLaren.

One said: “Steve McLaren, that you mate?”;

Another said: “Good to see Steve McLaren enjoying the game”;

One added: “Fair play to Steve McLaren for harbouring no grudges!”;

Current Manchester United assistant coach McLaren infamously took over in charge of England from Sven-Göran Eriksson in 2006.

But after failing to qualify for Euro 2008, he was sacked within a year.

Southgate has enjoyed far greater success, leading England to a World Cup semis and Euros final.

But he could be tested like never before against France, the champions of 2018.
